I don't want to monitor nvidia GPU temp. I just want CPU temp.

Why are you not able to install FakeSMC with plugins into /S/L/E? Religy or policy?

It is not an issue of I'm able or not. I just decided to put it in Extra folder.

Can someone explain how to use an backend tool to get the MHz and other informations out of the new FakeNvidia.kext plugin.
NVCLOCK didnt work (was before that plugin used together with that memory.kext).
Or does that plugin "only" reports nvidia gpu temp (works for me with 8800GTX smile.gif ) ?

FakeSMCnVclockPort plugin and nvclock the utility are two separate things, please do not confuse them.
mapMemoryDriver.kext provides functionality for nvclock that FakeSMCnVclockPort does not (and maybe should not).

Some of the open source code in nvclock is very helpful for porting parts to kernel code for use in FakeSMCnVclockPort, this is the only relation.

To use nvclock command utility follow instructions in the nvclock thread.

Good to see your 8800 works, some updates are needed for newer cards.
If the nvclock utility and FakeSMCnVclockPort.kext doesn't work for anyone please report your device-id and card name.

I will start looking and see what l can find biggrin.gif

I found this:

I skimmed threw it, it covers the 4850 and 4870 cards.

And what? I found no any temperature sensors or FAN control.

fakesmc 190 in S/L/E gives KP
it did happen, however probably coz of some error on my part

fakesmc 190 in E/E works, but no gpu temp or gpu fan

fakesmc 190 in E/E with nvclockport plugin in S/L/E also gives only cpu temp, no gpu temp or gpu fan

weird...fakesmc 171 worked fine in E/E with everything and reported all temps including gpu, but without manual tjmax correction

I was wondering if someone could explain the process of installing this version of FakeSMC. Is it the same method as installing FakeSMC 2.5? Is it supposed to be installed in E/E or S/L/E? How about the plugins how are the installed and which fiels are they? Sorry about the noobe questions but I wasn't able to see any explanation about the installation method.

TIA

Its installed just like any other kext I guess. Replace this kext with the one already there, Repair permissions for S/L/E and E/E, reload kextcaches.

Plugins are in the kext itself, right click on the FakeSMC kext---> show package contents--->plugins

Not sure about where its supposed to be put at, its kind of unclear. Some have it working in S/L/E, which is where it should be according to the devs, but others have it working in E/E...fully or partially. Testing underway I guess.

I got this warning with my 9800GT 512MB, how do I do?
CODE
PTKawainVi: started
Vendor ID: 10de, Device ID: 605
Architecture: 100000
Unknown Nvidia card
It seems your card isn't officialy supported in NVClock yet.
The reason can be that your card is too new.
If you want to try it anyhow [DANGEROUS], use the option -f to force the setting(s).
NVClock will then assume your card is a 'normal', it might be dangerous on other cards.
Also please email the author the pci_id of the card for further investigation.
[Get that value using the -i option].

Hello everyone.

First of all thanks for what you are doing, the kext works well and are very satisfied (tested on Asus P6T Deluxe).

I wanted to ask you something, without diverting too much from this project.
It would be possible to include support for applications such as Fan Control or smcfancontrol.
maybe a prefpanel that interfaces?
Both are open source.

Fan Control --> http://www.eidac.de/
smcfancontrol --> http://www.lobotomo.com/products/FanControl/index.html

If a request is inappropriate or not related to this topic I apologize.
