Howdy,
to fit my MB's ITE IT8718F (ISA 290h) (direct link to MB manual here) I had to edit ITEIT87x.kext/Contents/Info.plist (FakeSMC_4.1_rev581.zip) IOKitPersonalities/ITE IT87x Monitor Plugin/Sensors Configuration/IT8718F as follows:
CODE
FANIN1    Intake Fan     (that is SYS_FAN2 connector)
FANIN2    GPU Fan
and add:
CODE
FANIN3    Exhaust Fan    (that is SYS_FAN1 connector)
Not sure which are the FANINs for PWR_FAN and NB_FAN, because I do not have a spare fan atm.
Maybe it's not worth testing those two connectors, as my MB is very old, unless anyone needs to know all the details.

Well, yes - that's correct - you have to edit plist for ITE kext to suit your Mobo config and give name whatever you like...There are to many hardware implementations exists, so it's not possible to write an universal logic for all MBs.

seems that i have identified the ITE.kext being the cause for my random kernel panics ( boot + wake)
so i have to live without it.
but i am surprised, cause it worked fine on my old MB ( Asus P5B) and here not ?

How you decided that ITE caused random KP ? Do you have any logs or screenshots of KP ? BTW, on Gigabytes MBs the Realtek Ethernet is used and most of users
are using lnx2mac Realtek driver which known to make random KPs.

As for ASUS MB - as far as i know it usually uses Winbond chips and not ITE.

i use the realtek 2.0.6 original installer for ethernet.

if i drop ITE from extra, kernel panic is gone, even if i dont know why.
sorry no logs ( happens at boot or after sleep without any logging)
but they all are cpu panics.

i have a gigabyte MB with an ITE8728F, your kext loads and reports.
i decided to watch it for a while, maybe also the injection of chameleon does not work as proper ?

Realtek 2.0.6 is also known as good candidate to make KP rolleyes.gif Consider to boot with -v flag so in case of KP you'll get some meaningful output on a screen.

thx oldnavi, i watch it for a while,

now, after the while, the ITE Plugin is not the cause for my random panics,
it was a wrong networkinterfaces.plist ( with two entries for the same interface)
now there is peace and everything works fine.

edit: with ITE boot is only without KernelCache possible and automatic sleep is gone.
is there a way to correct this ? or is this due to preload out from extra
( and that kernel cache does not take care of /Extra kexts.)

puttin all kexts into S/L/E no E/E anymore, all works better, no KP, even when booting from kernelcache
(inshallah as moslems say)

hi all,

i'm back to hackintoshes with ML 10.8.1 on my EP45-UD3R.
Now i'm quite new to the plugins for fakesmc especially the smartguardian app.

could someone help me to get the automatic fan controll running? i read through the posts and dont get it what to edit or where to activate SmartGuardian=Yes.

following kexts are loaded: (in S/L/E - as Plugins in FakeSMC rev 616) IntelCPUMonitor, (ACPIMonitor - seems unloaded?), It87x, IntelThermal, OemBios, NCT677x

when i start the app all i get is this:

besides i have a gigabyte board, i'm still using all plugins... i know its stupid but i still had no time to kick FintekF718x.kext, GeForceX.kext, NSCPC8739x.kext, NuvotonNCT677x.kext, NVClockX.kext (disabled - panic on 660 ti), RadeonX.kext, WinbondW836x.kext, X3100.kext

i should only use: FakeSMC.kext, ACPISensors.kext, ITEIT87x.kext, IntelCPUMonitor.kext and OemSMBIOS.kext

one question: is it normal not to see ACPISensors.kext loaded through kextstat?

It is useful only with manual DSDT editing.

Hmmm strange I also have a Gigabyte board and I get a steady memory leak with only FakeSMC.kext, ACPISensors.kext, OemSMBIOS.kext, IntelCPUMonitor.kext, and ITEIT87x.kext..... Are you using ML? I'm wondering if this is related to Lion in some way or a specific chip... Do you know what chip you have?

That is useful I guess I don't need that then... What about OemSMBIOS.kext?

OemSmbios.kext is intended for using same kext on different machines. Just write your setting into your Oem section.
You may use Default section instead as OemSmbios, kext is not working in 10.8.2. Dunno why.

Hey there.
I'm running 10.8.1 (previously 10.6.8) on a Foxconn G41MD (IT8720F) + Intel E7400 Core 2 Duo + Radeon HD5570.

Currently using FakeSMC.kext 4 r617 (from .pkg installer), RadeonX.kext, IntelCPUMonitor.kext and ITEIT87x.kext; HWMonitor shows me a bunch of info (Cores temp, voltage and frequency, MB temp, GPU temp, memory voltage, HDD temps and Exhaust fan speed)

My question is twofold: 1) is there anyway to get the speed of the CPU fan? and 2) Although HWMonitor shows all that, iStat shows only Exhaust fan, CPU Voltage, GPU temp and the temp for only one HD... does anybody know what could be the reason for this? Is it most likely a problem with iStat or with my configuration and if the latter, what edits would I have to make to fix it?

Thanks in advance!
