Try to add OemSMBIOS.kext into Plugins dir of FakeSMC and check if KP is gone or not

Curious about the Oemsmbios.kext
what's it used for ?

Curious about the Oemsmbios.kext
what's is used for ?

To return the real SMBIOS values from original ROM. Needed to route SuperIO plugins to use correct profile for FAN, TEMP and VIN settings in SuperIO kext plist.

As example my Mobo is

+-o iMac10,1 <class IOPlatformExpertDevice, id 0x100000109, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (38582 ms), retain 24>
|
| "oem-mb-product" = "EP43-UD3L"
| "oem-mb-manufacturer" = "Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd."

This settings "oem-*" are created by OemSMBIOS.kext

next when ITEIT87x.kext is loaded it check if it can find the section in plist for Gigabyte EP43-UD3L mobo. (Of course it can as i created it)

In ITEIT87x Info.plist we have one under

<key>Sensors Configuration</key>
<dict>
.........

<key>Gigabyte</key>
<dict>

.....

<key>EP43-UD3L</key>

<string>CPU</string>
<key>VIN1</key>
<string>Memory</string>
<key>VIN2</key>
<string>3VCC</string>

<key>Rf</key>
<integer>1000</integer>
<key>Ri</key>
<integer>680</integer>
<key>VRef</key>
<integer>0</integer>
</dict>
<key>VIN4</key>
<string></string>
<key>VIN5</key>

<integer>2700</integer>
<key>VRef</key>
<integer>0</integer>
</dict>
<key>VIN8</key>
<string>VBAT</string>
</dict>

If there is no such profile - the Default section will be used.

Hi!
SmartGuardian in FakeSMC_V4.2_rev604 crashes while doing calibration, just after stopping FANIN1 and can not spin it up.
SmartGuardian in FakeSMC_v4.1_rev582 can complete calibration (removed calibration savedState before replacing SmartGuardian for both tests).
Using ACPISensors, FakeSMC, IntelCPUMonitor, ITEIT87x, NVClockX and OemSMBIOS in S*/L/*/E* (FakeSMC_v4.2_rev604.zip).
ITEIT87x.kext/Contents/Info.plist edited as explained in previous post, with <key>EP35-DS4</key>

Am I missing any further edit on plists?
Thanks

Use SmartGuardian from 582 revision as temp workaround. Seems it is kind of a bug in Apple compiler, it crashes for me too, but work perfect if i disable compiler optimizations.

SmartGuardian from 582 works great for me as well, although I notice that with my ITE IT8718F chipset, my CPU fan only reports a max of around 2500RPM, while I know from other operating systems that it's closer to around 3000. Is this an odd limit with the calibration, or something I can fix through a plist edit somewhere?

To return the real SMBIOS values from original ROM. Needed to route SuperIO plugins to use correct profile for FAN, TEMP and VIN settings in SuperIO kext plist.

Hi,

I've tested latest binaries and i'm encountering few problems. Based on what you've said, i've modded Fintek's plist to add my board to it.

oemsmbios.kext seems to work as expected:
CODE
    |   "oem-mb-product" = "P55M-GD45 (MS-7588) "
    |   "oem-mb-manufacturer" = "MSI"
    |   "oem-product-name" = "MS-7588"
    |   "oem-manufacturer" = "MSI"

I've added this in MSI dictionary of the plist (FintekF718x.kext):
CODE
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

And nothing changes in HWMonitor.app. Then I've added same thing to the "Default" dictionary, and in this case it works. Fan Names appears. BTW should voltage monitor should be present but "unnamed" by default in HWMonitor ? Or must I set everything right for this to work? (Where can we found correct value/id's for those sensors?)

Cheers.

Nope, it isn't related to the S.M.A.R.T. it is related to the ITE SuperIO chips and allows to fine tune automatic fan management for the ITE chips.

Hi,there
I've googled “ITE”
but it seems that I've not found anything related to the "ITE chips"
can you give me a further explanation of "ITE"
Is it related to motherboard or harddisk or something else ?

It will be better if you look into some hardware test program like AIDA64 to know what is the chip on your motherboard.

But I can't find things related to any kext in all kexts you provide with

It is not the information.
The information is "notebook Dell Inspiron ....". If so rest with peace. There is no kext to monitor Dell motherboard. Only IntelCPUmonitor and Video.
Or, if possible, create some DSDT additions and use ACPISensors.

No, this kexts will work for you:
FakeSMC.kext
IntelCPUMonitor.kext
RadeonX.kext
and may be ACPISensor.kext with DSDT modification.

Hi OldNavy,
You said SmartGuardian were related to the ITE SuperIO chips and allowed to fine tune automatic fan management for the ITE chips.
Could you provide a how-to to explain how to use it.
Like,
What's SmartGuardian used for, how many functions can it handle, which folder should i placed in, Does it require SmartGuardianHelper?
What's SmartGuardianHelper used for? which folder should i placed in? Was it a start up item? etc...

When i run smartCuardian, after calibration(the fan doen't spin down during calibration), i only see all my 4 fans listed as unknown in the left column, the right of the app is blank.
I use a GA-EX58-EXTREME mobo, which utilized a ITE8720F chip.
Does smartCuardian require 4-pin pwm fans for control?
All my 4 fans are 3-pin fans, which speed can only be controled by changing voltages.

Is it possible to use FakeSMC and IntelCPUMonitor, or anything else, to monitor a dual Xeon Harpertown machine?

I have 2 x5450's in an HP xw8600. Everything runs great (Geekbench of about 11,690), very stable, but I only get monitoring of 1 CPU.

I also cant get monitoring of fan speeds and other temp sensors like ambient temp, but I dont think there is support for an SMSC SCH5327, is there?

Thanks!
