Hello,
Thanks for the hard work on these. They have helped on so many levels. With the older versions I could see temps on core 1 & 2 and hard drives and I could control case and cpu fans on an intel dg41rq with a core 2 duo and evga nvidia 9800gt running 10.6.7 with a custom dsdt. Can you tell me how to add fans and fan control? Since this update I can now see all from before and the gpu diode and northridge temps but no fans are listed. This is my smc_util dump.
I'm running these in S/L/E except for the 3100 and radeon. Thanks

New version on SMC_util can dump all keys (more then 64).

Now we made version 3.1.0. Major change is SMC write support. It is included into NVClock and in ACPIMonitor but in beta stage.

I don't know about other people but I constantly get Kernel Panics when I mess with Fakesmc. Everytime I try a new Fakesmc my machine panics. I use Kext Utility to rebuild by kextcache. I am running an ASUS CG5290 desktop with a gimped Asus Rampage II gene bios rev 1401. I have a patched DSDT so I only have a FakeSMC and an IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector kexts in my E/E folder. I have VoodooHDA in my S/L/E folder and that's it. I have generateCstates and generatePstates in my com.apple.Boot.plist file. I boot with Chameleon 2 rc5 755.

My graphics card is the Nvidia GTX 260. It has full acceleration via GraphicsEnabler=Yes.

Restart/Shutdown/Sleep all work. That's about it. Pretty Vanilla. Any idea why I'm getting the panics?

In verbose I get errors that seem to indicate FakeSMC isn't loading when panics occur.

Looks like you can use some kind of FakeSMC as you reported all is working?
Changing to new version assumes you delete kernelcache. Kextutility seems to be wrong here. Do it manually.

Made some progress installing Release_10.6.zip.

Thanks for the advice. I do indeed have a working FakeSMC. I just want to try out some newer fancier ones. I took your advice and the boot process went a lot better. I had to learn a few terminal commands along the way sad.gif . FakeSMC.kext seems to have loaded now. Further along in the process I still get a Kernel Panic. I attached an image. I realize this kext package is still Beta, so I'm not too distraught. I'm just curious what this error means. Screenshot of KP is below.

As I see your signature you have NVidia GTX. If so delete X3100.kext that panic. You don't need Intel graphics as you have Nvidia.
The same for Radeon.

I followed your advice again. And it worked. I hadn't realized X3100 was Intel. iStat results are below. Thanks for your help.

FakeSMC is in S/L/E. Everything else is in E/E. No KPs laugh.gif

With the new FakeSMC system boot faster (26 second /32 before) but don't work well with amd temp sensors.

Any Solution for this?

If you can provide a strict technical information where is the "amd temp sensor" then I can try to implement this.

Hi all smile.gif
With last revision of FakeSMC.kext (rev 493) and his PlugIns (IntelCPUMonitor.kext and NVClockX.kext) loaded from S/L/E I get a sound assertion in kernel.log:
CODE
Sound assertion "0 == layouts" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-199.4.12/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 807 goto Exit

I've an ALC892 that I get working with this injecton:
CODE
    <key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1b,0x0)</key>
    <dict>
        <key>PinConfigurations</key>
        <string>0x00</string>
        <key>layout-id</key>
        <string>0x0000037c</string>
        <key>subsystem-id</key>
        <string>0x000000a0</string>
        <key>subsystem-vendor-id</key>
        <string>0x0000106b</string>
    </dict>

With rev 477 all working great (only IntelCPUMonitor.kext is rev 483).
Thanks in advance for your help wink.gif

Hey,

I just wanted to express my gratitude and let the devs know, that fakesmc.kext + extensions (in my case: SuperIO, Radeon, IntelCPUMonitor) work perfectly from E/E and just replaced my 2.5 FakeSMC. All readings desired work in iStatMenus3.

Screenshot: http://bit.ly/j6JdUd
My system: C2DE6600, GB 965P-DS4 rev. 3.3, ATI 4850, all Vanilla.

Hey Slice,

On a real Macintosh I get just a single line of output with the March 2011 SMC_Util2 posted above.

CODE
./SMC_util2 -l
Num: b0=0 b1=0 b2=0 b3=ffffffd7 size=4

This is with x86_64 on a macmini4,1 (SL) and macmini5,1 (Lion)

I'm using the util to check for existing keys on real macs.
A May 2010 version does appear to work.
