I get kernel panic with the last version from the svn and also with the one from Download section (rev 454).
I have Fakesmc, acpimonitor and intelcpumonitor in /S/L/E as separate kexts. They work fine, but when I add the x3100plugin I get KP:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Test made with 10.6.5 and 10.6.6 (10j537 GM). Same behavior in both as far as I can notice

Ok!
That worked fine loading from S/L/E (x3100 panics if loaded from E/E, doesnt load with fakesmc from svn)

After many tests, the best combination for me is: CPUmonitor and ACPIMonitor from Download topic, FakeSMC and x3100 from above post
Running 10.6.6 on HP Compaq 6720s, GMAx3100 (2a02, rev 000c)

Thanks!

Hi @blackCH & Slice, I have a problem when I install the x3100.kext and without rebuilding kext caches, it means i use this -v -f to boot up . this will work perfectly gives me graphics monitor. But when rebuilding kext caches and reboot, KP appears...

Edit: FakeSMC and x3100 is installed in the S/L/E.

I have try again, no luck. FakeSMC and x3100 download from slice posted and IntelCPUMonitor from Download topic. All thing goes will but after rebuild kext caches.
Can't upload file ? The Kp says that X3100 & FakeSMC ,IOPCIFAMILY kext.

I have successfully installed the most recent version of the X3100 monitor kext (ver. 609). However, it seems like the temperature reading is off by about one-half. I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 so it should run pretty much like Slice's 1525. In Windows, the temp for the CPU and the GPU are pretty much the same. In Lion, the GPU's temp is typically about one-half the temp of the CPU. As I write this, my CPU temp is 42 and my GPU temp is 17. That seems like too much of a difference considering that they are sitting only a few inches away from each other on the mother board. Any idea what is causing that? Is there a place in the info.plist where I can add a multiplier?

BTW - Great job on the updated HWSensors app.

Sorry, I just have no idea about calibration of the sensor. I set something more or less probable. Me CPU ~60 and GPU ~47. I also think it is not good.
Test this version, please, if it is more correct.

Thanks for providing me with a test kext. Unfortunately, it did not work any better. At first, it did not work at all. The kext did not recognize my GPU. I ran "sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel" and it reported that the kext did not have any dependencies. I changed the FakeSMC version in the X3100 info.plist from 4.0.0 to 4.2.0 and then it found my GPU. But as I type this, the CPU temp is 44 and the GPU temp is 19. That cannot be right. In Windows, the CPU and GPU temps are almost identical unless I am doing something CPU intensive to increase CPU temp.

BTW - My daughter has the Inspiron 1525. She runs Windows 7 and I installed a monitor app on it called Speedfan. Her CPU temp is usually in the mid-40s, as is her GPU temp. If your CPU typically runs at about 60, you need to clean the dust out of the heat sink and/or apply a new coat of thermal paste. There is no reason for a 1525 to run at 60 unless you are installing software or running some type of scan.

I really appreciate all the work you do for the OSx86 community.

Yes, my Inspiron is 4 years old and never be cleaned.
Also, you should take into account that HackOSX and Windows 7 provides different speedstep with different CPU temperature.

Before I ever started using OS X on my old Inspiron 6000, I was using i8kfangui for Windows. It's specifically designed to run on Dell laptops and monitor temps and control fan speeds. Someone made one for OS X and I still use it for Windows and OS X. Using the same program for both operating systems helps me to determine which operating system runs cooler and what temps are abnormal. For me, OS X consistently runs a few degrees cooler than Windows (probably because there are fewer programs running in the background - possibly because the OS X kernel is more efficient.) I tweaked the program interface a bit to make the fan run at higher speeds when the CPU temperature reaches certain levels. The kext that makes the app run is only in 32-bit mode but since the X3100 GPU needs to run in 32-bit mode, it's OK. Feel free to check it out. I uploaded it here: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2744
