Hi, I install the Lion some days before and the graphics is Intel X3100, since apple give up to support 64bit of it after 10.6.2. This video card performs badly under the Lion, the phenomenon is when you move your USB mouse more quick a little it freeze, it is ugly.
So, I find the kexts in a forum and give a test, turn out works. Here is the screen shot.

What is the reason to bother about 64bit if you have 2Gb RAM?
For me, with the hardware limitation only i can use the 32bit, it is common issue about mouse move freeze under Lion. This is to give someone who has more than 2GB ram and want use lion more stable. Just for this, I know what it does ,maybe does nothing meaningful.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 with the GMAX3100 gpu. I have tried the 10.6.2 video drivers to boot with arch=x86_64. The resolution is perfect and the video is pretty good. However, there is no translucent menu bar, which makes me think that, perhaps, Open GL is not supported. In any event, my Geekbench (64-bit) score with Lion DP4 is 2800 when I boot with arch=i386 and is only 2850 when I boot with arch=x86_64. For that minimal gain, I choose to boot in 32-boot mode and enjoy better video.
afaik you have to use the matching OGL framework and x3100 Framebuffers for it to all work, but then it might not work with the new kernel.
I am running Mountain Lion on my Inspiron 1720 with X3100 graphics. Since ML runs only in 64-bit, it would be helpful if there was renewed interest in this topic. The graphics run pretty well on ML but there is no QE/CI. It appears that many in the Apple community, in addition to us in the OSx86 community would welcome better 64-bit X3100 kexts.
