Hi, on my machine with Core2Quad and ICH10 chipset, running OSX 10.6.8, the system freezes after 5 to 10 minutes on first bootup, sometimes on second bootup.

I have to reset or restart, then the computer will be absolutely stable for days. Also just before the computer freezes, the system starts to slowdown drastically, the mouse movement will lag the more the seconds go on. Then the computer will freeze. There is no such problem in Windows 7.

What could cause this? Is there a common dsdt fix for this? Seems to be timer related for me.... HPET has 2 irqs on 0 and 8. RTC has no irq. Any other dsdt patches regarding timing?

I also tried Slice's custom 10.6.8 kernel - no change.

How can I go on to specify the problem? Thanks for ideas.

Well, I know now that it's a hardware related problem.

The freeze on first boot also appears within Windows 7. So this topic can be closed or removed.

Thanks.
