I and AutumnRain rewrited VoodooHDA to get fully working driver.
The sources available at sourceforge

First of all read information from THeKiNG about correct Pin Config

Tricks
1. Set correct type for internal microphone
<string>0x90a70120</string> -- Internal Analog (red digit=7)
<string>0x90a6e140</string> -- Internal Digital (red digit=6)
2. Place all inputs in different groups - blue digit above. -- no needed for driver v2.5 and above
3. If you driver works then set Verbose to 0 to clean system.log.
Instruction what to do else will be followed...
4. If you have two sound cards, for example other one is HDMI output on Video card then made info.plist
CODE
<key>IOKitPersonalities</key>
<dict>
<key>SoundCard</key>
<dict>
<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
<string>org.voodoo.driver.VoodooHDA</string>
<key>IOClass</key>
<string>VoodooHDADevice</string>
<key>IOMatchCategory</key>
<string>VoodooHDADevice</string>
<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x284b8086</string> -- place here deviceID of your sound card (Chipset HDA device, not a codecID!)
<key>IOProviderClass</key>
<string>IOPCIDevice</string>
<key>IOUserClientClass</key>
<string>VoodooHDAUserClient</string>
<key>NodesToPatch</key>
<array/>
<key>VoodooHDAVerboseLevel</key>
<integer>1</integer>
</dict>
<key>HDMI</key>
<dict>
<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
<string>org.voodoo.driver.VoodooHDA</string>
<key>IOClass</key>
<string>VoodooHDADevice</string>
<key>IOMatchCategory</key>
<string>VoodooHDADevice</string>
<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x033f1002</string> -- place here deviceID of your HDMI device on video card
<key>IOProviderClass</key>
<string>IOPCIDevice</string>
<key>IOUserClientClass</key>
<string>VoodooHDAUserClient</string>
<key>NodesToPatch</key>
<array/>
<key>VoodooHDAVerboseLevel</key>
<integer>1</integer>
</dict>
</dict>

5. Trick by Trauma

6. If you hear output sound in input channel (ordinary for Realtek chips), named Larsen effect, you can make karaoke biggrin.gif or exclude the effect by disabling input monitor. See discussion at post 490 and result in 496.
7. About multichannel read post #586 and discussins around.
8. If you have delays with sound look post 990.

Advantages vs AppleHDA
1. More easy to patch
2. More inputs/outputs working
3. VoodooHDA has no processing so sound is more native, more clear.

getExtDump as addition to getdump

I resolve the sleep issue.
Change log:
- no more sleep problem. Sound is good after wake.
- automatic change names while autodetect in Leo. Strange, but in Snow names will be changed only after close/open sound prefs.

AutumnRain made v254 with corrections to mixers.
New parameter in info.plist.
CODE

          <key>Node</key>
          <integer>8</integer>
          <key>select</key>
          <integer>1</integer>

       </dict>
   </array>

Thus for node 8 will be connection 1 is default selected

New parameter
CODE
<dict>
<key>Codec</key>

<integer>19</integer>
<key>SwitchCh</key>
<integer>1</integer>
-- I want to swap left and right channels at internal microphone
</dict>

Change log:
- add support for more chipsets and codecs
- correct Input Monitor

Hey Slice ,
I have a super lappy Acer 5742 g ,running perfectly Lion 10.7.2.Everything works perfect :
Intel i5 460 m(generate p & c states)
Nvidia GT 420m(graphisc enabler=yes, Use Nvidiarom=Yes)
Atheros 9285 wifi,
broadcom lan,
brightness levels
sleep
VGA @ HDMI picture out
sound (voodohda, sound + mic works perfectly)
batery indicator shown in Istat menu 3.19
etc etc....
EXCEPT HDMI sound out together with Soundcard
I have tried all the voodohda versions(0.2.1 ; 0.2.2 ; 0.2.5.6 ; 0.2.6.1 - this one Im currently using ; 0.2.6.2 ; 0.2.7.2 ; 0.2.7.3 ), with all versions less or more I've managed to get HDMI output showned in sound system preferences(also changed in MIDI setup the bitrate to 48.000), but with no one I've menaged to have both sound card + HDMI working together .The only time HDMI works is when I put only the the IOPCIMatch from the Nvidia HDMI (that is 0x0bea10de), i get four digital outs and on the second one - the HDMI works -but no Sound card and mic . This I've tried with VoodoHDA versions 0.2.6.1 and 0.2.5.6 , and with both version HDMI works, but only HDMI, not the Soundcard.
When i edit the voodohda with my Intel HD chipset - <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x3b568086</string> I get only the Soundcard>
When I add another personality for the nvidia HDMI
<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x0bea10de</string> I get Digital out in System properties Sound but no HDMI sound.
With only the personality from Nvidia 0x0bea10de , i get only the HDMI out.
This is the only thing not working on my Acer lappy, Im using the HDMI out to connect my lappy to Sony bravia LED.
Have someone managed to get HDMI out working at the same time with the Soundcard thaht is fully working VoodoHDA , pls post back.
Here my voodohda info.plist (0.2.6.1 version of voodohda):

It may be your bootloader problem: FSB and proper PCI initialization are properties of a bootloader. Chameleon 2.1-17xx is not a good choice.

as you see

Dec 24 11:25:13 localhost kernel[0]: rtclock_init: Phenom MSR 0xc0010071 returned: 0x80000048002010
Dec 24 11:25:13 localhost kernel[0]: TSC: Verification of clock speed PASSED.
Dec 24 11:25:13 localhost kernel[0]: TSC: Frequency = 3210.783729MHz, FSB frequency = 401.347966MHz, bus ratio = 8

there are an addation of 10.8 mhz to the cpu speed came from fsb

my orginal cpu fsb busratio is 200*16

so when use this flag fsb=200 busratio=16

on kernel log FSB become 200.66 and feel that the audio become less lagy

i will ask andyvand to make kernel fsb fixed to 200 on it
also will try valv bootloader branch

is there kernel flag allow me to speficy cpu speed ?

thanks

Random KP is related to non-initialized PCI bus. My system with VoodooHDA 2.7.3 works stable and never KP.
Check the whole configuration.

ok so how do i fix it?? What is non-initialized PCI bus? Sorry for the basic questions!! But whenever i remove voodooHDA the KP's disappear. They only occur after installing voodoohda. I have removed AppleHDA from S/L/E but my DSDT contains the HDEF device......can it affect the KP?? Should i remove it?? Thanks

EDIT: I get this KP many times: BSD process name corresponding to current thread: powerd

Really I don't know what is the reason of VoodooHDA KP. I was studying the sources and see no criminal here. It is the driver that hard using DMA. May be it is written not by Apple's requirement for such drivers.
But sure, I have no KP very long at all computers conntrolled by me.
I also see no such reports from other users. Something wrong in your system:
1. Bootloader.
2. Chosen SMBIOS settings.
3. DSDT corrections.
4. IOPCIFamily
5. Other third-party drivers.
