I'm trying to install OSX Snow Leopard on my Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop. I'm using the guide at http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html, but I'm having issues.

1) My bios doesn't support AHCI, and there are no newer bios updates available.
2) iBoot ATI doesn't recognize the OSX install DVD (single layer)

I think problem 2 is caused by not having AHCI enabled, but I could be wrong. Is there any way to install without AHCI?

Other hardware information:
Pentium 4
1G ram
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000
320G IDE(PATA) hard drive, currently dualbooting XP and Zenwalk

You cannot boot a modified distro DVD that already has a bootloader on it with any kind of boot CD.

If your laptop has an older Intel ICHx chipset, you need AppleIntelPIIATA.kext.

Using search helps as well.

With Radeon 9000 you need to install Tiger and if you have ATI chipset then ATI ATA driver.
