I have a Gigabyte P55A-UD3/I-5/760. I have read every setup (tonymac)(Insanelymac) I can find but the same problem always occurs.
"Still waiting for root device". I guess that means that during the loading of OS X it can no longer see the DVD drive.
I changed the jumper to master and then to cable. Their is nothing else on the bus. I'm using a Maxtor SATA 160gig System drive with nothing on it but the HFS+Journaled/GUID format and no other drives. I tried -s/-v/-x and many others but always the same problem.
I believe my bios is correct set to TonyMac specs. I'm using I-boot ATI EFI and a retail version of OSX 10.6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the BIOS did you set HDD's as AHCI instead of ATA?
