Hi, I'm Will, I've been using Logic since version 5.51, and as it's now gone mac only I've had to resort to OSX86 in order to make music! biggrin.gif
Nameci the great
Noob here, hello everyone.

I have been on IM just lurking around and collecting some info to build my first osx86 hack. I was successful with my osx86 Jas 10.4.8 on my Asus W1n lappy, though I have mouse tearing on Radeon mobility 9600, now this crappy old laptop is running Win7. This now serve as my file serve, the gf is using it...smile.gif

My second project is a success on a cheapo S20II, running 10.5.7, with deep sleep, though I can't still turn on the internal mic on an ALC883 running VoodooHDA. This piece is so stable that I never want to get back to using windows again even with the 7 out. Never had KP ever since my first install on this piece.

The third is an atom n270 much cheapo netbook made china, not branded, removed the stickers. It's a white mba clone. Been running iPC 10.5.6 with it. This is the gf's favorite.

So far so good, my future plans would be getting the real mbp 17's and a quadcore desktop hack.

Btw, I am a south east asian working and living in China. I am on my mid 30's. Programmed industrial applications for windows from the previous job.

Thanks to all the guys who started this community, some handles are very, very familiar from the other site.

Hello all... just your average tinkerer... have a Vostro 1510 w/ snow leopard. Still working on getting the right X3100 kexts so that my screen works w/o external monitor w/ QE/CI enabled. Also just about to put snow leopard on my gigabyte x58 extreme/i7 965. Great resources here.

Hello PRoject OSX,
I've just joined the 'Project' and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 40 something fellow in Michigan, USA who uses a Hacked Dell Dimension 4550 for my Daily User. I'm a Mac User for many many years and have very little windows knowledge past 'using' them in work environments. Sure made this Hack Process a steep learning curve! But have progressed a long way, learned how to tweak bios', edit plists, install and uninstall kexts, etc etc. I discovered this site when I found the nVidia Video Guide here as I was fighting to get my 'new' vid card working. The guide was fantastic and I used it to learn how to edit plists and such. Cool! I'm still using "distro's" - iAtkos v7 to get 10.5.7 then the iDeneb 10.5.8 updater. I'm Learning to use Console and Activity Monitor and Terminal to my advantage. OSX86 tools has proven quite handy, but slowly learning how to run the same commands from Terminal - the gui in osx86 tools is a lot friendlier! Evenually plan to learn bootloading and such to get away from distro's, but not a very strong imperative until I can manage to acquire much better hardware. Personally I'm a college educated fellow who's living with disabilities. I'm HUGE into Mythbusters! but my big LOVE is Photography. It's what I studied in college, but it's never been my profession.

Heavy into both hardware and software modding. Currently working on the X3100 display issues on my Acer Extensa 5620 Hackbook, running retail 10.5.8 (currently stock drivers with dual-link DSDT + Display Overrides, working to remove the Overrides through further DSDT edits). Already successfully replaced the hard drive, cpu, ram, wifi card, battery, LCD; modded the LCD cable from WSVGA to WUXGA, added in Bluetooth, and swapped the webcam with an internal iSight. 100% stable and awesome, just fiddling now to make everything perfect within OSX.
jbolted
Hellooo out there in TV land. How are yoooo!( Ed Norton from the old honeymooner episodes)

I'm jbolted, After months of research, I finally ordered some parts for my new frankintosh. they should be here by thursday. I've been with MacOS since version 8. I used to love taking apart my old Beige G3, & my old 8600 tower. I even took apart and put back togehter successfully a 700 Mhz eMac. Which is what I am typing to you now from. Unfortunately, this 700Mhz, G-4, with 32 mb nvidia card, 1 GB of memory is the fastest mac i own. I did put in a dvd burner and a 500GB harddrive, even got it to let me install Leo on it.

I am not decided yet on what motherboard/cpu/video I'm gonna use yet.

I am leaning on this:

MB: gigabyte EP45-UD3P
Intel Core2Quad
Nvidea 9500 GT

What do you think of that with snow leapard retail DVD.

Hi there,
Here is my story :
I just bought an hp 110c-1131ef and installed ideneb 1.3 on it and updated to 10.5.8 Mac OSX!
In fact when I was 3 years old I was on the knees of my father who bought one of the fist Mac plus in 1984 and kept playing with its and versions after. When I was 17 I was punished to buy a windows based PC just in case Mac would disappear so that someone in the family would we able to train the rest of the family !
Since I have been using a PC and still do but just had a sudden will to go back in time (although OS X changed a lot since!).

chinoy
Hi my name is Ron Chinoy
I am from Bangalore India and run www.rddreams.com

Why am I installing OSX ?
Many reasons chief among them the fact that I hate Microsoft.
And its a fund thing to do after a hard days work. Building race / tuned engines.

I was involved in the early days of Linux. And its sad to say the air is just not the same with OSX.
For every response Ive got asking for help Ive got 3 offering to help me for 20$. (Hasn't happened to me on this forum yet. But after the 5th request I tend to move on to another forum.)

Also it would really help if the authors of posts would update their first post. This way you dont have to read thru 50 pages of 50 different people asking 50 different questions which have little or nothing to do with the orignal post.

Also there seems to be a trend to mix up versions. A post will start out discussing 10.6 and half way thru the discussion will shift to some other version.
