I'm Rockett's real life roommate, I've done over 10 hackintoshes in my time, my current system being the quadcore in my signature, and a real Alu macbook.
Long live OSx86
munky
May 4 2009, 11:39 PM
hello, im munky, a bit of an osx86 old-timer. have been around since the start, mostly spectating but was lucky enough to release a few bits and bobs to the community, though mostly thanks to the hard work and downright cunning of others.
glad to be here - the air is so much fresher!
cyrusrayne
May 5 2009, 01:30 AM
I'm cyrusrayne. A creature of cyberspace, I'm 21 and based in Canada. I've seen the rise and fall of one OSx86 community (which didn't take too long, but it happened). Not a very frequent osx86er, but I to like to fiddle where possible.
Kiko
May 5 2009, 08:33 AM
Im Kiko, Im damn sexy, and have been in the scene since it started with deadmoo. Any major drama which has happened was probably caused by me! i rock!

i am identity from india....built only one hackintosh in mid 2007 and installed os x(jas 10.4.8)...
Superhai the Great
May 5 2009, 07:25 PM
I have been around before the mountains, the wind and the snow. I am more sexy than Kiko (he who used to be a she, who is now a (s)he). I don't kill people with my eyes, but if you see me you're already dead. I will probably hate you, not for any reason, just for pure pleasure.
And I have installed this thing called OS X on occasions. Latest build was a 64 reed harmonica with which I used a yet to be released distribution of OSX86. My next build will be a medieval slughorn, with which I will wear boots from 16 dead chameleons (edit: I believe they were).
Valentine
May 5 2009, 08:50 PM
Hi I am Valentine and I am a alcoholic...

whops, wrong support group.
Anyway, I have been around silicon chips since 1981 and started with 1 kb on a ZX81. And cos none of
you guys called me up to tell me that OS X runs on PCs I just stumbled over it 10 months ago.
And now it really feels like having a real computer again

Thanks for switching to Intel Steve!
Suhail
May 5 2009, 08:58 PM
Hey everyone! My name is Suhail and I use OSX86 everyday as my Stable PC. Heck without OSX86, I wouldn't be here right now. My first experience was Installing 10.4.6 JaS to my other PC and left after that. I then returned to the scene once I heard the Leopard installing got easier

I love to dabble around in Terminal...
So everyone, "sudo get me a cookie"

Hara Taiki
May 6 2009, 03:46 AM
I'm Hara Taiki. 22, from New Jersey. Been on the scene since late 06/early 07, but worked with the deadmoo crap before that.
Most of you probably don't like me.

May 6 2009, 03:55 AM
Hey there,
My name is David Leonard, or Daverto. I am a 16 year old kid that has been on the scene since the days of PearPC. I have one OSx86 machine, and that is my desktop. I love OSX to death and use it for everything, I am glad to be here too.
Thanks,

My introduction will be epic...I swear to God, Gates, Jobs, and Torvald...
QUOTE
TSRH was my first beloved home in the community of reverse engineering.
I was a forum admin and www scene liason for quite some time.
Upon seeing new talent and profiling them accoringly, I set into motion to create a new www team.
Team ICU was born. After a few years nursing Team ICU along, I quit during a power struggle.
The best talent entered 0day teams with some help from my influence in addition to their raw talent.
To this day I hold very strong ties with both www and 0day communities...but that's another story.
It was just prior to me leaving Team ICU that a former member mentioned to me, the OSX86 scene.
My first entrance into the OSX86 scene introduced me to a few pillars of this scene's history.
Over a short period of time, I became tight with asap18, JaS, np101137, and semthex.
Within a few months, I became fascinated by the developers of this scene.
It has always been and always will be my role in the OSX86 community to network developers.
My initial interests were guys creating distro dvds and the most friendly of them were:
Jas, eddie11c, bhast2, kalyway, modbin, and a few peeps from ToH.
Most of them don't trust people very easily and many of them at first were not responsive to me.
My fascination with them related to their individuality and NOT authors of the DVDs.
Spawning from the distro dvd era were kernel authors; one mentioned above: semthex.
That dude is truly a brother of mine from another mother.
Along my way in this wonderful community I was able to have awesome conversations with even more devs.
Audio, Video, Kexts, Peripherals, Bootloaders, etc all of these devs come from unique backgrounds.
Rarely did I let one go bye without at least trying to make contact.
People are what keep me interested in this scene as I mess with OSX86 less than 4 hours a month these days.
The reverse engineering of such a vast and daunting project fascinate me and its contributors I hold in high regard.
I remain here to one day see the perfect hack but until then I'd like to write a brief tribute to my friends.
The following people are people I have gotten to know and consider friend worthy regardless of political alliances.
There is no special order and if I leave you out -- just PM Kiko -- he now handles all my Public Relations.
semthex, JaS, kaylway, modbin, bhast2, eddie11c, zef, kabyl, indi, fassl, diabolik, joe75, signal64, onemanstrash,
kiko, np101137, asap18, pater (and all his 127 names), anv, bikedude880, cmoski, f41qu3, fleebailey33, gloomygod,
hagar, hara taiki, macgirl (despite her hatred toward me), nawcom, mercurysquad, realityiswhere, last_exile, 3dman,
dax, diegomax, ignorantcow, colonel, rockett, iphonetom, bigboss, mac-mini, prasys, dense, bumby, none1, sportman,
paulicat, oui, and a few others I'm forgetting.
All of these people are remarkable and have contributed in their own way and spoken with me at length.
You people rock and I owe you all a huge thank you and my appreciation.
These are people who helped keep me around in add what help I can when needed.
I hope to continue to bring you guys some fresh blood by introducing even more talented people into our community.

May 8 2009, 02:03 AM
I am a flee.
I have used macs since powerpc although not 68k.
I remember saving a whole summer for the 2500 dollars of the powerbook g4.
I dibbled i the osx86 community for a little while. about a 1 1/2 years ago i really decided to be proactive in it.
Currently I do have some "real" macs and an EeePc with OSX and this acer.
My biggest leap into osx86 was when Kabyl started modding bios. Since my Acer needed a mod. I was actually the first test and am otherwise know as tehmachacker from the insanelymac post. With a successful bios mod i was able to use all 4 cores. And all the hard work to try and figure out the problem really got me knees deep.
I am frequent on irc.
so many people to mention i can't name them all. or i could and i am just being lazy.
special mentions however
kabyl- for modding my bios and allowing me to be first test subject
lastexile- for just being on irc so much, good to talk
cyclonefr- because some people in #radeonhd need to use nvidia. and he told me to get nvidia instead of my shitty 2400hd
really everyone else. if i didn't mention you, improve off i am tired.

Harro!
Name's PabSTARRRR., or Pablo (not actually my name). I don't actually run OSX86 on any of my machines because of driver support (GTX260 FTL?) and the fact I have a Mac now

I've never tried anything but OSX and I think OS7 so I'm still fairly new to Mac's!
texta
May 9 2009, 04:02 PM
Good morning gents and ladies alike,
My name is texta. You may know me from various trollages and flame wars on InsanelyMac, or just from IRC (Moofspeak).
I joined the osx86 community roughly a week after deadmoo was released.
I'm a pure-bred South-Sydney Aussie fag and currently a student.
I am a serious collector of Macs and over the past month or so, have finally found time to just relax and spend time on here!
So yeah, IM is the past. If you think that i'm going to start anything from there over here... you are seriously wrong. It's time to meet the serious and non-trolling texta.

Crossfire
May 10 2009, 04:08 PM
hi everybody

I am Crossfire, my first computer which I started using when I was 4 was some really old Mac, which I loved for many years until it got killed by a power surge. It was replaced by a crappy IBM Aptiva

Spend most of my free time on the Moofspeak IRC network in the #% (hash-percent) channel (where all the elite people hang

). I enjoy developing for PHP using technologies like JavaScript/AJAX and writing standards compliant code using XHTML/CSS. Been round for about 4 years now, not overly active, but around all the same.

Gringo Vermelho
May 19 2009, 02:41 PM
Hi.
I'm Gringo Vermelho, not a Brazilian native. I used to be a viking.
I'm a musician/teacher and my wife and I own and run a small lancheonete in the city. Besides the music I'm into computers, electronics, language and classic arcade games.
I've been around for about a year now. I spend too much time helping out or just being a smartass to new users over at insanelymac. My avatar over there is a blue plane with a spoon on it, maybe you've seen it.
I'm only in this for the fun of it, I don't need OS X for anything serious, it's a hobby, I want to see how far I can take it. I enjoy following what goes on in the scene and try to stay on the edge when I can. I've learned a lot and I'd like to learn more.
I recognize almost everyone here from other forums as developers and/or very knowledgeable users, this is going to be interesting I'm sure.
Thanks for creating this forum.

Hi, I'm Adam from Prague, but currently living in Germany.
My first OSx86 hacking was on a HP desktop with an AMD Athlon 64 with 10.4.6 JaS.
This hack is currently running 10.4.11.
Anyway, I hated Macs in good old System 7 times, but now I even like vintage Apple OSes.
Well my current hack is a beautiful XPS M1530 with 10.5 and 10.6 10A354 on it...

Hey guys,
I'm N3RD - living in germany in the beautiful near of cologne. I'm actually a 19 years old guy trying all stuff out which seems interesting. It was just a boring afternoon in office nearly a year ago, browsing through the web and bang! - found out that Leopard has been cracked by some guys....It all startet with Kalyway 10.5.2. I was a classic AMD guy like a little IT-rebel in that community. Hanging all night long in IRC and so on... Now I'm here with Intel and first time a happy vanilla (& sleep) user in OS X

I'm looking forward for future - things are getting more comfortable without closing the room for developing and trying things out. Thats what I like about OSX. It runs when it should but if you want to, you can crash it all....or improve it!
Greets to all!

hello people,
I've been reading for a while and now I've entered the matrix ; pleased to meet you (I probably already talked with some of you on the IRC XPC (or SL or kernel ...) channel ... hi again then !)
at this time, I live in France and am using two multibooting (XP, 7, different Linux flavors, mainly ubuntu powered, and of course retail OSX with everything needed in the magical extra folder) rigs with C2Ds / i945 mobos.
I'm very interested in software iPhoneTom's UEFI, which I find as elegant (retail style ...) as full of potentialities (hopefully, some day, we'll get this boot sound which only makes a mac what it is ... and maybe the real bootcamp ...) but currently using buggy Acronis OSS (for C2RC1 didn't really do the trick ... waiting for RC2 by the way ...)
greatings !!

Hi Everyone,
A while back, I was trying to install Leopard on my PC and I read the insanelymac forums almost entirely on the subject of GeForce problems. When I went back this week because I had decided to give it another shot, I tried remembering the name "krazubu" because he had become my best hope of ever getting my GF 7600 GS + TV-Out to work fully. When searching for things like NVCAP etc. I finally came across a post that had a link to these forums.
My assumption was right: NVEnabler by - amongst others - Krazubu is looking to me like a final solution to the never ending story of the display problems OSx86 users are having. I'm looking forward to it's development and it's the sole reason I registered here as a user.
Nice to meet you all,
Nik.

Jun 13 2009, 06:24 PM
Hey everyone, I am Tech Star. I have installed OSX86 Leopard (10.5.2 Kalyway) and Tiger before on my old Pentium 4 PC, but it fried after 3 weeks of use of OSX. Now I bought an Intel i7 and I am having troubles to getting it to run. :/
jadran
Jun 18 2009, 01:44 PM
Well jadran is mine real name I live in Croatia, in a small town on Adriatic coast.
I was in a scene before known as MadTux, but because obligations on mine two faculties (witch made me go a little crazy) I needed to left the scene and started with mine real life. Now I came back as normal person. :-)
Student on Academy of Dramatic Arts and Engineering faculty in Zagreb, and the first reason why I installed Jas (10.4.8 sse3 only) was because of FinalCut.
If U think why two faculties, reason is simple: I didn't manage to become a student on Dramatic Arts in a first row so I finished one faculty while trying.
And never, but really... I will never play Ogame again.
I have B&W G3,iMac G4 and Hackintosh.
blackCH
Jun 19 2009, 08:56 AM
Hi all;
Im blackCH; I've been around since late 06'.
I used to be onto computers when I was a kid; I had a tk85 (a brazilian clone of the sinclair zx81; with more memory and rubber keys!). At the time I used to program basic and some z80 assembler. Those little black boxes didnt do anything by themselves;...
For many years I was away from computers actually until I started to do electronic music...at some point I heard the about the possibility to run OSX on PC's and well here I am. I dont do much electronic music at the moment. In my free time, here and there I do osx86 for the fun of it. I've built some hacks; and also did a couple of osx86 distros (XxX ones)....
Is nice to see the good people here.
Cheers
FiggyG
Jul 19 2009, 07:22 PM
Hello, I'm FiggyG and 25 years old. I've been using computers since I was 10, and learned how to program BASIC from the beginning. I have used IBM 286 machine, Apple IIe (still load up Oregon Trail sometimes). I used Mac OS 7 through 9, but stopped using Macs until 2008. That's when I was asked to setup file sharing on an iMac with Leopard. I became intrigued with the OS and setup my first hackintosh in February this year. My experience includes DOS, Windows 2.0 through Windows 7. Linux (2.24) through current distros (Gentoo and Ubuntu are my favorites). I came here because it seems to be a very focused and tight community; what I believe InsanelyMac should have been. I have an interest in testing new software and assisting in the development of OSx86, and helping other users with the knowledge I have acquired.

Jul 24 2009, 09:07 PM
Hi to all!
I'm Paulo from Portugal. I'm an System analyst and the felling for OSX is growing in me!
Have been a Windows programmer for more than two decades, but OSX is becoming more and more appealing to me, the only drawback is the amount of work that i have in the windows domain and the lacking of tools, that i know off, to work with, in the programing field.
On the other side, here in Portugal the number of mac users its still very small, but definitely growing.
This forum, contrary to others there, its more friendly and educational, at least for me a noobie int his area, and that's what i need right now!
Running a hackintosh with snow leo last seed, with some KP now and them, but nothing to dramatic, hope to make a stable system soon.
Best to all,
Paulo

Hey guys,
I'm Florian from germany near Cologne. I was starting my apprenticeship to an IT-Systemssalesman 3 years ago. Boring afternoon in office and surfing the german IT-News-Sites when I had read a news containing some infos for OSX86. So my interest waked up. I tryed several builds but I only had a SSE2 capable processor AND it was an AMD. So I couldn't get it to work properly. I builded up an system based on AMD64 and NForce4 and got realy deep expierences in CPUID/decrypt-patching. I was using AMD till 10.5.5 when I switched to an Intel-based system with G31. I just had a nice system with retail installation and all hardware working. But I hated my case. So I put it into a G4 case and made it all fit together.
Thats actually my state of the art. Just a few kext and a nice and stable system suitbable for my needs.
I just want to thank all guys who made it possible. Thanks for this expirience. My next notebook/computer will be an apple!
Greets to all and to those who want to belong. Stay your head up, everythings possible!

Hi - I'm an old hacker . . . old = my first Apple hack was soldering away to get termpower on Apple II SCSI hosts a very, very long time ago.
Over the past few years have been profiting from the energy of other, younger folk to install Tiger then Leo on a succession of dull black 'n alloy boxes, all watercooled.
Thank you all.
Am now happily battling with Asrock's take on the NV ION 330 kit 'o parts: this is a small shiny box, allegedly 'silent' . . . ie about twice as noisy as my Macbook Pro.

Hi I'm 55 and been building and playing on computers since the late 80's and my first computer was a commodore 64.
I did have a Mac MDD with twin 1.25Ghz processors BUT to keep my 19year old Autistic son happy I gave it too him so now I'm trying to setup kalyway 10.5.2 on my PC and since my win-xp and windows 7 are both 32bit I haven't bothered to change to 64bit in my motherboards bios to use snow leopard and I'm finding it hard to understand just like my MS Dos 6.22 days.
