Hagar
Well, you're here.. we're open, we've put a load of work in but it's not really finished yet, so we're sortof in beta, and would love to hear how the process has been. Particularly the Quiz and how that worked for you, and any suggestions you may have for improving it.

Thanks for coming smile.gif
Suhail
I disagree highly with the quiz. It's too hard! I got 9/10 and only got most of the answers because I spend half my time in the Terminal anyways.

I think the quiz is a very good idea. It is not to hard at all. The only problem I had with it was the two minute timer.
Two minutes is quite ok for a native English speaker, but even though I am very aquianted with English, I read only half
as fast than in my native one.

Browsing through here and there, I must say I very much like what is starting here. This seams to get something serious.
It looks as if this can be a chance of having a place, where you can concentrate on understanding what you want to know
about OS X on a PC and not having a overblown monster like the other place, where you tend to wade through piles of useless outdated
information to get to the point of it.
Even though I got a (almost) perfect running hackintosh and actually no need for change or upgrade, I like reading about how OS X
works on diffent machines with diffent setups in general. Maybe this can be the place. We'll see what people will make out of it.

Also: great design!!

The new forum looks really good, i like the quiz, a great method to prevent noob spamming and make sure people know the basics before they start doing something, just think it should be a little harder , its too easy tongue.gif

Yeah, #projectosx on irc.moofspeak.net wink.gif

i have great <3 for the quiz. Its a good test of ones worth as a member here, and helps keep noobs away tongue.gif The two minute timer will prevent people simply googling stuff (btw, 10/10 for me aswell smile.gif).

I would however like to see the hardware thing work with the login info from the forums, so I don't have to retype my info like name and email every time I wanna submit some new hardware, it seems redundant (and easy to spam).

Good suggestion. I will pass this on to the devs. smile.gif

may i also suggest that you include the meta tags for keywords and description to help improve your chances of being indexed on google correctly. Currently, a search for project osx gives me osx86scene, and this site does not appear in the results at all.
Sabr
Hmm, I may be wrong, but I don't think Google relies too much on meta keywords anymore (I doubt Google even finds them useful anymore).

The reason why Project OS X does not appear in the search index is because we are a very new site and it takes time to move up the ranks.

I thought Suhail changed something with the spider so we don't get indexed at all for security purposes while we were opening?

I wouldn't have a clue... Next time I see him on IRC I'll ask. smile.gif Either way, meta keywords are still useless tongue.gif
Suhail
I have emailed realityiswhere the instructions. Thought someone would have noticed tongue.gif
Crossfire
meta keywords are not useless, even to googlebot.

Google simply doesn't place much weighting on them in determining your search ranking, it uses its own keywords, however it is still good practice to include your own, so that other search engines like Yahoo, or dare i say it, Windows Live Search can properly index your site.
