so, i installed it and it corrupted my test volume, cant boot that volume anymore :/

i think that volume was already fucked, anyways, reinstalling os x to that volume and reupdating it to see how it goes.

EDIT: all working good here, for some reason i had journaling disabled on my test partition, now with journaling enabled all is good

I'm all updated.

New kexts working fine too, but does anyone know what they are for? I saw a lot of audio related kexts.

used the downloadable combo update and everything seems to works fine with my retail/preboot install on my asus p5w-dh so far. i saw some messages from the yukon kext during boot though, so i'm not sure if lan is still working but i'm using wlan anyway and that one does fine.

Works. ICH10 finally native. Sound had to be fixed.

Did an update on both the macs and my hack

Worked pretty well. I just had to use back my old extensions folder , the new one is giving lots of funny error . Edited the 9.60 to make it look like 9.70 and used System.kext + new nvidia kexts from OSX 10.5.7 and voila I've a taped OSX 10.5.7 system all together !

I've notice that I did gain 1-2 fps more in XBench test with these new nvidia drivers. I wonder what apple did to spice it up !

Are you ready to be unbanned from msn?

Have you turned off that RickRoll Belgium?

Still with the old 10.4.4 techniques, eh prasys? if you're using 99% old 10.5.6 kexts, then you're not *really* running 10.5.7, now are you? Also small differences in xbench don't really mean much.

In other news, I found this update a real pain on the lenovo s10e, ended up installing a set of gma950 kexts of unknown provenance and still have no sleep (EHCISleepenabler won't load any more) and the fan is either on or off, 50/50 chance each boot.

Still, as this is a typically half-finished hack with more experimentation still to be done, I can accept spending some time on getting things right.

It has brought the state of the netbook hackintosh community into stark relief, however, as pretty much all the discussion & solutions revolve around prechewed stuff like windosx and various installer packs. hence gleaning any useful information from them is very hard. One more reason to put some effort into this place and make life simple, not by providing point-&-click solutions, but by making the underlying tech easy to understand and thus bridging the gap between the devs and the users, the gurus and the noobs.

I fully agree, but even beeing a long time Windows programmer and able to understand tech topics, I don't find many in deapth guides explaining what's going on.
Mostly I see guides that say "hack this into the terminal and replace this with that", but no explanation on how and why it works in general.
One example is DSDT. All I find is cryptic or non specific wikipedia.

It looks like there is no other way than to read Amit Singhs 1680 pages "Mac OS X Internals: A Systems Approach" a few times to get a foundation. wink.gif

90% of the "guides" that exists around are mostly crap and better to throw it in the bin. People add in so much "for good measure" because it was working at a specific setup at a day where the flowers where mostly yellow. Writing good guides requires much time and effort and I don't think there are many that have the time and interest and knowledge at the same time.

Yeah Hagar. I am still in the good ol' days (glorious days) of OSX 10.4.x . I guess I'll have to read up more on what's going around and catching up with what is going on

As for your last statement , I truly agree Hagar. I am seeing that projectosx is emerging to be a solid place to bridge the gap between gurus and noobs. But then writing a good guide would take effort and not to mention the explanation has to be precise and accurate. You can't simply write a guide , by just throwing few terminal command summing it up what it does. This way people wouldn't be bothered to learn at all !

all works fine and fast, it's only an impression or boot is faster than 10.5.6?
