WhY.SoOo.Serious
hey guys ,

i am running leopard 10.5.8 ( ipc10.5.6 + Combo update )Vanilla kernel , Vista , & Ubuntu throught Chameleon BootLoader

the point is i have been reading a lot about installing retail one and how it is so much better

so i am going to format the hard disk and repartition to dual boot win7 & Retail Leopard .... and i need some help?

i downloaded diffrent ver of boot 123 disk and i extract it to know what is it's kext content

most of them contain the following :

IntelCPUPMDisabler
ApplePS2Controller
ACPIPS2Nub
SMBIOSEnabler

so do i need to make a modified version of bot 123 to be able to run retail or that's enough?

these are the one that i chose when installing ipc ( i installed alot of kexts after that )

do i need to ad demos or decrypt to the boot 123 ?

also i tried to use slimbiuld boot 123 creator to make a modified ver , the point is i didn't know what to pack

what is com.apple.Boot.plist ?

i have this file in this directory ( Macintosh HD/Extra )

some guy told me that u can just use the boot 123 and after installing , use any distro that u want ( ipc , ideneb,..) and then chose whatever kexts u need

another method which is prefered by alot of people is to use efi partition to install kext ( i read the topic about it in insalymac and i got confused )

so guys any help will be appericated cuz i am soooo confused

Methods for installation may be different. Initially I installed iDeneb without any help of USB bootloaders. Then I redesign the system to almost original one and update up to 10.5.8.
I use Vanilla kernel, native SMBIOS, ACPIPlatform, PowerManagement....
Boot
Chameleon 1.0.11 + Chameleon for SMBIOS/DSDT by mackerintel. Set model to MacBook4,1 - it is significant for CPU and GPU PowerManagement
Additional:
AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext
AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext
AppleACPIThermal.kext
AppleDecrypt.kext
GenericCPUPowerManagement.kext (AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement also present and works)
NatitX3100.kext
IOSDHCIBlockDevice.kext
UUID.kext
Patched
ApplePS2Controller.kext
AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext - replaced by version 1.5.18 - only working for me
AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext - native kext edited info.plist for my DeviceID=4315
AppleHDA.kext patched for Sigmatel9228
SPPlatformProfiler & SPiPlatformProfiler from 10.5.6 to show Hardware information and CPU info
DSDT patched for HPET, sleep trick, WiFi wakes up, PCI information, backlight
No need to patch USB and PCI, native drivers work fine.
OpenHaltRestart, SleepEnabler, FakeSMC, ClamshellDisplay don't help.
Shutdown and Restart work fine. Sleep works if no AC adapter connected.
All others works fine.

AppleDecrypt.kext

IOSDHCIBlockDevice.kext

I think that
AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext
AppleDecrypt.kext
are vitally needed. Others are improvements.

Because you have native resolution 1280x800 vs my 1440x900. It is my problem.

About boot132 I can't say something.

You don't need any of these kext. Our ICH8M works fine with native drivers.

At you will. They aren't needed for installation. Except AppleDecrypt.
HDAEnabler is needed for sound but not for installation.
WhY.SoOo.Serious
again man thnx so much for ur support

i made anew modified boot 132 but i faced a problem , it won't work

Windows 7 installs fine onto a GUID partition properly, so yes, you can.

I've only just gotten my feet wet with Snow Leopard but, unless I misunderstood everything, if you run 10.6 in 32-bit mode you can use your old GMA kext from Leopard.

snow leo isn't work so perfect with me ( still a little buggy with random kernel panic )

i tried all thing that i know which one of them is to use the leo kext ( which isn't recommended by a lot of people do it is compatibly issue ) it didn't work out

i tried both default booting and booting with -32 -x -v flag

Why So Serious, if you need the retail boot disk both Thomas and I have one and in addition to this I'm currently almost complete with my snow leo boot disk although it doesn't work as nicely as the leo boot-132 disk. Did you install snow leopard through the guide at dailyblogged?
BrumBrum74
Great guide here. Thanks for that.

Anyone tested this laptop with snow leopard and with nvidia card yet?

Have a similar laptop with GeForce Go 7800 256mb card and I get to desktop with NVEnabler.

Problem is that the mouse pointer stutters and hangs until I put laptop to sleep and wake it up again. Then it works fine.

Any clue what could be wrong? Have loaded disabler.kext that is supposed to help with the stuttering.

thnx man for ur offer and yeah thomas gave me the boot 132 and the needed kexts but for leo

i installed snow leo form the hard disk with a little modification

but if u can help me with my problem , that will be great man

my problem as i posted before that my graphics card doesn't work well

CODE

so i fixed only the resolution and what i did for any one who need it is open the file: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

Open the file, and add these two lines

<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1280x800x32</string>
CODE
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://

Hello Slice,
wondering if you were finally able to solve this Restart if Sleep if on AC adapter mystery).
10.6.1 everything works fine except this thing and the other problem is VoodooHDA doesn't save Mic input level reseting it to zero upon restart.
Cheers!
