I have SL installed on my Asus EE1000HE. Looking at some posts about fixing the problem where the netbook does not recover after going to sleep. I did
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage

Now the netbook does not start and gives a kernel panic..

Any idea how I get it to start - perhaps by giving some boot options or using a USB loader to restore some files ?

Do want to add that my SL install was working quite well for 2 months so far before I starting messing around to try fix the sleep issues..

I wonder if I have messed up some kexts..
This is the message that comes up :-

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x1b347459): "Unsupported CPU: family 0 0x6, model 0 0x1c, stepping = 0x2"

You need a disabler for AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement, eg NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

Is there a way I can repair the existing install without a complete reinstall?

I have a 4GB USB stick at this moment, and access to Vista and XP PCs.

I would think that a USB stick that can write the correct kexts to the OSX filesystem would be fantastic - but as a Mac newbie I have no idea where/what to use..

You need to boot your install and fix it. You can use the /extra/extensions folder on the USBstick to to add the kext you do not have in System/Library/Extensions needed for boot.

Go here and use Ubuntu to build the bootloader.

I got back into the system - actually I using netbookCD..
It loads some basic kexts and then allows you to boot into your system..

Now theres another problems..I did not make a backup of the original System/Library/Extensions folder before trying out different things..

Would someone using 10.6.1 mind posting a zip of their extensions folder ?
